‘सीनियर्स फॉर सरदार’ कार्यक्रम का मुख्य उद्देश्य वरिष्ठ नागरिकों के ज्ञान, अनुभव और ऊर्जा का सदुपयोग करते हुए उन्हें सरदार पटेल की १५०वीं जयंती समारोह का अभिन्न अंग बनाना है। यह पहल उन्हें केवल दर्शक बनने के बजाय सक्रिय भागीदार और राष्ट्र सेवा में स्वयंसेवक बनने के लिए प्रेरित करती है।

कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत कई आकर्षक और सार्थक गतिविधियाँ शामिल हैं:

सरदार पुस्तक वाचन (Sardar Book Reading): वरिष्ठ नागरिक सरदार पटेल के जीवन और उन पर लिखी पुस्तकों का वाचन कर सकते हैं और समूह में उन पर चर्चा कर सकते हैं।

सरदार राष्ट्रहित यात्रा में सहभागिता (Participation in Sardar Rashtraheet Yatra): यह पहल वरिष्ठ नागरिकों को प्रत्यक्ष रूप से यात्राओं में भाग लेने का अवसर देती है। ये यात्राएं तीन श्रेणियों में विभाजित हैं:
- अहमदाबाद हेरिटेज यात्रा (Ahmedabad Heritage Yatra)
- अपने गांव से करमसद तक बस यात्रा (Their Village to Karamsad Bus Yatra) – सरदार पटेल के जन्मस्थान और कर्मभूमि से जुड़ने का अवसर।
- सरदार स्मारक शाहिबाग (Shahibaug) में पिकनिक (Picnic at Sardar Memorial Shahibaug) – अहमदाबाद स्थित सरदार स्मारक पर एक साथ समय बिताना।
जिला मुख्यालयों में आयोजन में सहायता (Help in Arranging Yatra in District HQs): वरिष्ठ नागरिक अपने संबंधित जिला मुख्यालयों में आयोजित होने वाली सरदार यात्राओं के स्थानीय आयोजन में मदद कर सकते हैं।
वैश्विक उत्सव में योगदान (Contribute to Global Celebration): वे अक्टूबर २२ से २ नवंबर २०२५ तक अहमदाबाद में होने वाले सरदार पटेल के १५०वीं जयंती के मेगा फेस्टिवल सहित वैश्विक स्तर पर होने वाली ઉજવણીમાં (celebrations) अपने अनुभव और सुझावों का योगदान दे सकते हैं।
संगठन निर्माण में सहयोग (Help in Building Organization): वे WorldMiTR जैसे संगठनों को मजबूत बनाने और उनका विस्तार करने में अपने अनुभव और ज्ञान का उपयोग कर सकते हैं।

Sardar of Sardars and Our Senior Citizens: WorldMiTR’s ‘Seniors for Sardar’ Initiative for Sardar150

The historic occasion of the 150th birth anniversary (Sardar150) of the great freedom fighter, architect of unified India, and our source of inspiration, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is approaching. To make this significant milestone memorable and to convey Sardar Sahib’s ideals to the new generation, WorldMiTR has launched a vital and special program titled ‘Seniors for Sardar’ (Seniors4Sardar). This initiative is dedicated to our experienced and knowledgeable senior citizens, offering them a valuable opportunity to connect deeply with Sardar Patel’s life, work, and ideals, and to actively contribute to this grand national celebration.

The primary objective of the ‘Seniors4Sardar’ program is to integrate senior citizens into Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations by leveraging their knowledge, experience, and energy. The initiative encourages them to be active participants and volunteers in service to the nation, rather than merely spectators.

The program includes several engaging and meaningful activities:

Sardar Book Reading: Seniors can read books about Sardar Patel’s life and discuss them in groups.
Sardar Story Telling: They can share life memories, anecdotes related to Sardar Patel, or stories inspired by his life with the younger generation and others.
Documentary Watching: Collectively watching and discussing documentaries based on Sardar Patel’s life and his contribution to the freedom struggle.
Sardar Movie Co-watching: Watching films related to Sardar Patel together in groups to understand facets of his life.
Artistic Skills: Seniors can express their feelings and knowledge through various artistic mediums, such as:
- Essay Writing
- Blog Writing – to share experiences and thoughts.
- Poetry Composition – writing poems dedicated to Sardar Patel.
- Drawing and Coloring – creating artwork related to Sardar Patel.
- Creating Video and Audio Podcasts – recording their thoughts and stories.
- Creating Reels – to spread Sardar’s message to the younger generation via social media.
Seniors as Volunteers: Senior citizens can actively participate as volunteers in various WorldMiTR activities.
Training to Help the Community: Seniors receive training to disseminate Sardar Patel’s message within the community. Specifically, they are trained to initiate and manage programs like Vacation4Sardar for children and Sardar Ghar Sabha (Sardar Home Assembly) for families, under the “Ghar Ghar Sardar” (Sardar in Every Home) slogan. Currently, ‘Sardar Ghar Sabhas’ are conducted online via Google Meet, though an offline format is also available.
Participation in Sardar Rashtraheet Yatra (Sardar National Interest Journey): This initiative provides seniors the opportunity to directly participate in these journeys (yatras). These are divided into three categories:
- Ahmedabad Heritage Yatra
- Bus Yatra from Their Village to Karamsad – an opportunity to connect with Sardar Patel’s birthplace and place of work.
- Picnic at Sardar Memorial Shahibaug – spending time together at the Sardar memorial in Ahmedabad.
Assisting with Yatra Organization in District HQs: Seniors can assist in the local organization of Sardar Yatras taking place in their respective district headquarters.
Contributing to Global Celebrations: They can contribute their experience and suggestions to the global celebrations, including the mega festival for Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary scheduled in Ahmedabad from October 22 to November 2, 2025.
Assisting in Organization Building: They can utilize their experience and knowledge to help strengthen and expand organizations like WorldMiTR.
